Volunteers represent a tremendous resource for the school. Students receive many tangible results from the work of volunteers such as academic progress and increased services. To encourage volunteering and emphasize its importance, the ILS Family Service Hours (FSH â âfishâ) Program was created. This program provides families with ample opportunities to be a part of their childâs learning experience. Studies show that students put more value in their education when they know their family is investing time in the school as well. Volunteers provide a family atmosphere, foster good relationships, provide a calming influence, expand the experience of students, and model the concept of selfless giving.
An ILS FSH brochure will be provided at the start of each school year. Listed will be many volunteer opportunities available during weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Some of these include the lunchroom, library, computers, after-school sports, reading, and tutoring with students. The listing will assist you in determining when and in what areas you will volunteer your time.
1. Each ILS family is obligated to contribute 20 hours of time during the school year.
2. Those families not contributing at least 20 hours at the end of the school year will be billed at a rate of $10 per hour for those hours not completed.
3. A Volunteer Log book will be kept in the School Office. All volunteer hours will be recorded into the log book. When volunteering during school hours, hours are to be recorded directly into the book in the School Office. Otherwise, the School Office may be contacted by phone or email with hours to be recorded. You may also use the form below and it will emailed to the office.
4. Grandparents and other relatives may contribute volunteer hours on behalf of a school family.
5. A FSH Coordinator will tally volunteer hours periodically; those families short on hours may be contacted directly by the FSH Coordinator or a specific event leader with possible volunteer opportunities.
When you are on campus during school hours to volunteer, please first go to the School Office to sign-in and pick up a volunteer badge to indicate to others that the School Office is aware of your presence on campus.
